Theyr has been recognised in the Thetius Top 150 for 2026, the annual ranking highlighting organisations making a significant contribution to innovation across the maritime industry.
For Theyr, the inclusion is an important acknowledgement of the direction behind its technology: moving voyage optimisation beyond conventional weather routing towards Explainable Commercial Decision Intelligence.
This recognition reflects the progress Theyr is making in redefining voyage optimisation through Explainable Commercial Decision Intelligence.
At the core of this is T.VOS, Theyr’s multi-objective optimisation technology, which helps shipowners, operators and charterers make more transparent, commercially informed decisions. Rather than presenting a single “optimal” route, T.VOS reveals the trade-offs between alternative voyage strategies by evaluating priorities such as fuel consumption, emissions, transit time, weather risk, schedule performance and contractual obligations.
Each optimisation evaluates more than 400,000 voyage alternatives and processes billions of data points, combining high-resolution meteorological and oceanographic forecasts with vessel-performance models. The underlying AI technology was developed in collaboration with The Alan Turing Institute and the University of Southampton and Theyr is continuing to build on this foundation through explainable AI capabilities that help users understand why a particular route or strategy has been recommended.
The recognition also reflects Theyr’s continued product development, including the launch of its Charter Party Dynamic Optimisation Module in collaboration with Rensmarine, which integrates contract compliance calculations directly into the T.VOS platform. This allows shipowners and charterers to better align voyage decisions with Charter Party terms while improving transparency, compliance monitoring and voyage efficiency.
What is the Thetius Top 150?
Now in its fifth year, the Thetius Top 150 draws on data and insights from the Thetius IQ research platform. For the 2026 edition, Thetius considered more than 5,400 maritime organisations and assessed the innovation they delivered over the preceding 12 months.
Its multi-stage methodology examines signals including new product and platform launches, partnerships focused on new development, investment and funding, and industry-first achievements. The final 150 are divided into four categories: 50 startups and scaleups, 50 SMEs, 35 corporate organisations, and 15 not-for-profit and government bodies. Organisations are presented alphabetically within each category rather than ranked against one another.
What the recognition means moving forward
The recognition reinforces the growing importance of decision-support technology that is transparent, commercially relevant and grounded in the realities of maritime operations.
As AI becomes more deeply embedded in safety-critical and commercially significant decisions, understanding why a system recommends a particular strategy is becoming as important as the recommendation itself. Theyr will continue advancing this approach, giving maritime decision-makers greater visibility into operational trade-offs and greater control over the strategies they select.
